We’re not going to use numbers. Nor are we going to use stats to back up any of our claims.

All we’re going to say is 49 years. That’s how long it will take for Cal to get back to the Rose Bowl after “losing to ‘SC tonight”:http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/ncaa/recaps/2006/11/18/35021_recap.html.

After the last seconds ticked off, the Bears were made to be what they are, beasts in the Pac-10, instead of kings of the Pac-10.

We said “last week”:http://clog.dailycal.org/sports/cal-stunned-by-cats that the team better come prepared tonight. For about a half of football, the Bears looked like they were ready for the upset. But then the Trojans did what they did and they played like the five-time Pac-10 champs.

And Cal did what is also does in the Tedford era – choke under the lights and lose big games. The Bears, for the second-time this year on national T.V., were made to look like Paul Maguire in that ridiculous seat by the sideline camera (not to mention his discussion of the center’s ass, but that’s a story for a whole other day)– stupid.

Last week, we saw Cal lose a perfect Pac-10 season and a shot at the BCS title. This week, we saw the Bears lose the conference crown and a bid to the Rose Bowl.

We’ll see you in San Diego (after the meaningless Big Game).
