It looks like His Airness, Michael Jordan, looks highly upon Ayinde Ubaka—kind of.

The Charlotte Bobcats—which Jordan in part owns— signed Ubaka and sent him to the NBA’s Summer League in Las Vegas. This by no means suggests that Ubaka has made the full squad.

Being sent to the Summer League as an undrafted free agent means that going down to Vegas for the summer is your chance to show that you’re NBA material.

If Ubaka doesn’t impress, well, we’ll be sure to tell you which minor league basketball team (we mean D-League team) Ubaka is on so everyone can buy season tickets.

On another note, it looks like former Pac-10 tournament MVP Leon Powe got his first taste of soon-to-be rookie sensation Greg Oden. Powe’s Boston Celtics went up against Oden’s Portland Trailblazers, and according to Marty Burns of SI.com, it wasn’t too pretty for Powe.

bq. When he returned, Oden began to show some flashes of why many consider him the next dominant big man. He drew a foul on a pretty baseline hook, then picked up a goaltending call when Celtics forward Leon Powe soared up to swat his hook in the lane. Oden then finally got a bucket to go down for real when he crammed home a two-handed dunk off an offensive rebound, drawing a foul on Powe in the process.

We don’t think that extra year of school could have prepared Powe for that.

The last person MJ really liked was Kwame Brown. That turned out great.
