We may have pissed and moaned about the most annoying (or addictive) additions to the Facebook interface, but it seems creator Mark Zuckerberg is actually giving in these days.

After activist group MoveOn.org received about 70,000 signatures on its petition against marketing program “Beacon,” Zuckerberg apologized for what upset consumers called an egregious invasion of privacy. The contested program alerted a user’s entire network every time that user purchased an item from or visited one of Facebook’s partner corporations.

But Mark’s most recent and exciting change? Removing the “is” from status messages.

We know, we know. Now the Clog’s new Facebook profile can reflect our true feelings. Or at least avoid the ever-so-cumbersome two-letter verb.

Sound familiar? Let’s review other Facebook faux-pas of note:

* The news feed.
* High school Facebook. Hence the Facebook Fatwa.
* Worldwide Facebook. Hence the creep factor. And elitism.
* Getting rid of the courses feature. WTF?
* Adding applications in general.

Beware, Mark Zuckerberg. Le Resistance is onto you.

“Lightening Up” is a Clog special devoted to link-stacking finding Facebook groups of interest. And by interest, we mean anything that seems amusing to us at the time. Since there are millions upon millions of Facebook groups which surely must amuse someone, this special will NEVER DIE.

If your roommate has changed your Facebook password so you can actually study for or write your finals, reading this special (or even being connected to the Internet) probably hasn’t helped. Neither has this. This just made us hungry. But to make you look really smart, remember to include plenty of “w00ts” in your papers.
