After discovering the latest omen of the world’s coming demise, the Clog encourages Berkeley students to put down their books and enjoy their short-lived time on earth.

Today is National Pigeon Day and, coincidentally, also Friday 13. This reeks of “The Birds” eeriness. Berkeley doesn’t have too many pigeons around, but maybe that’s because Chez Panisse serves squab from time to time.

We’re not necessarily anti-pigeon, but then again, we don’t have a car for them to, ahem, decorate, and we haven’t been pooped on in quite a while (and that was a seagull, mind you). They’re kinda cool-looking … maybe.

According to the video, they’ve even earned medals of valor. Heck, one carrier was even shot by enemy fire during war (betcha it was a Frenchman). You best celebrate and respect them today or else they’ll attack you or peck you to death today. Just a guess.

Happy National Pigeon Day! [SFist]
