We know “Manhattan Media News and Gossip” blog, Gawker hates on anyone and everyone who isn’t Gawker, but please–did they really have to hit us when we’re down? We didn’t realize it would be worth their high and mighty time to unleash elitist snark on simple, defenseless kids like us. Apparently, though, it was.
Granted, they didn’t exactly hate on us specifically, and they do have a bit of a bias against all print media, but they posted such an unflattering picture of the Daily Cal (Remove tag!). They might also have obliquely made fun of UC students. So not cool, man.
Oh, and they, like, totally, dissed college papers in general. Which, if you think about it, is sort of like them saying “Your Mom! Neener neener neener.” Luckily, a few commenters came to the aid of college newspapers everywhere. Thanks, guys.

Gawker’s night editor, Ryan Tate, was the Daily Cal’s editor in chief during the 1997-98 school year.
