We all get butterflies in our tummies when we meet new people, but according to a study by UC Berkeley researchers, being less racist might help you become less socially awkward. Well, kind of.
The study found that if you mingle with people who aren’t of the same race as you a few times, you’re that much less likely to internally freak out the next time you encounter strangers. It’s also likely that your next group of friends will more closely resemble a United Colors of Benetton ad.
Basically, what we think they’re trying to say is that if we all make friends with people who aren’t like us, we’ll start to see people of all races as people and we’ll begin to realize that we’re all alike on the inside and that no matter what, folks is folks, then people won’t be prejudiced anymore and all the world’s problems will be solved. Yep, that definitely sounds about right …
