We kind of wanted to stay away from this one, since we don’t have all the details yet and we definitely don’t want to take sides. That being said, we just have to ask, “Why?” How can we expect anything to get solved in the “real world” if we, as college students, can’t even function civilly in a place where open discussion and non-violent interaction are supposed to be priorities? Aren’t we, like, hypothetical grown-ups? What is so funny about peace, love and understanding? Argh. So many questions …

The internet, naturally, is abuzz with speculation and finger-pointing on the matter. It’s a good thing you can’t get punched online. (And Superpoke doesn’t count.)

This was a hate crime perpetrated against Jews. Simple as that.

SJP attacked Jews because they were Jews. They started it with the flags. They baited them. And then when they were asked peacefully to take down the flags, they refused and started punching.

Thanks tom, for making this so simple for the rest of us. I mean, I thought that before this might be a complicated situation that reflected the deep political, religious, cultural, and emotional ties that are associated with the Palestine-Israel conflict.

But really, to make the situation so black and white, so simple… you are so clever! You must be a Poli Sci major, with all those useful facts and strong hypotheses.

I certainly hope you’ve sent your detailed findings to UCPD and the Dean of Students, so that the facts of this case can be illuminated and justice can be done for all involved. You truly are a god among men.
