When it rains it seriously pours in Berkeley—at least when it comes to bizarre assaults. Today was no exception; just ask the two women who awoke in the wee hours of the morning to find perfect strangers straddling them in their beds.
The two (seemingly unrelated) incidents occurred at 2:30 and 7:20 a.m., on Cedar Street and Hillegass Avenue, respectively; and both victims (the first with the help of her mother) were fortunately able to thwart the attempted attacks. Straddler Numero Uno was described as “black, 16 to 20 years old, 5 feet 7 to 6 feet tall, wearing a gray, hooded sweat shirt,” while the second was reportedly “black, 19 to 22 years old, 5-foot-6, wearing a gray sweat shirt without a hood and blue jeans.”
If this delightful piece of news bodes ill for your ability to sleep tonight, simply lock your windows and doors and you’re one step ahead of the game, considering each of the aforementioned females apparently neglected to do so. Which obviously doesn’t make the episodes any less freaking creepy … but we figure it’s a worthwhile piece of advice regardless, especially in light of certain stats.

How can that be unrelated?
