first classFor the last decade, Berkeley has been ranked the No. 1 public university on the U.S. News & World Report’s 2010 guide to “America’s Best Colleges,” and this year is no exception.

This isn’t exactly news as much as a reminder. Sometimes it’s easy to get lost in the co-op scene and think that Berkeley is called an institution of “higher” education for a reason.

As far as all private and public universities go, we rank 21st among 262 others. But more importantly, we rank just above UCLA, our mascot-stealing, pastel-colored offspring.

Feel free to use this information for bragging rights, an incentive for extra Christmas money from the grandparents or just general pompousness.
