Do you have amazing artwork no one will pay money to see? Do you still want to display your stuff, yet A) Don’t trust the wide, wide territory of the interwebs and B) Haven’t had any luck getting into local galleries?
Then now’s your opportunity. According to UCBLJ, the Art Students’ Union wants to set up a show for spring 2010 at the Worth Ryder gallery (in Kroeber Hall) that displays “the diversity of art across majors on our campus.” In particular, that means you don’t have to have devoted your life to art, just as long as you’re really, really ridiculously good at it capable of making art that fits “gallery standards,” whatever those are.
But if you don’t like the idea of people staring at the culmination of your creative genius in the 3 seconds before they walk into class, there’s another Berkeleycentric option.
Berkeley now has a social network that’s all about your inner artist. It is, apparently, in a semi-beta stage, but you can think of it like Facebook for people who do artsy things (including writing and music, among other things). Perfect for the person who’s wants the locality of an on-campus gallery with none of the physical existence.
