You may have heard about some flyers flying around campus lately, so you might know that serious sh*t is supposed to go down in the next three days. To that end, the Clog’s got a calendar of events, a “schedule” if you will, that will (hopefully) clear things up a bit.

An impressive share, I just given this onto a colleague who was doing a little analysis on this. And he in fact bought me breakfast because I found it for him.. smile. So let me reword that: Thnx for the treat! But yeah Thnkx for spending the time to discuss this, I feel strongly about it and love reading more on this topic. If possible, as you become expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more details? It is highly helpful for me. Big thumb up for this blog post!

I don’t see how watching movies and having a ‘party’ at the Bear’s lair, has to do with a strike, nor how it gives any credence or legitimacy to the this strike. Are students joining the strike because they can’t afford the tuition rise (and if so what are they doing partying and spending money on that)? Or because they think it’d be fun to have some days off of school before finals hits? And watch movies and drink in the interim?
From my experience, most people who go to Cal (and I graduated from there) have enough money or credit to pay the $13k. For those who don’t, the UC system has an excellent system of financial aid. What about all the parties, drinking, clubbing, drugs that more and more people participate in? Save some money on that, and crossing the $5 toll bridge into the city on Friday and Saturday nights, and spend it on tuition. ‘Public education for the masses’ sounds good in rhetoric, but seems to me most people at Cal are just interested in moneygrubbing to get to the top, get a good job, and party hearty along the way as much as they can get away with. So it seems like dressing a sow up in a silk dress, to act as though everyone is a lofty educational populist.
Face it, costs are rising everywhere, for everything. Doors open for you with a Berkeley degree and that is a lasting value that is worth $13k a year. If you could afford $10k already, you can afford $13k. It’s called student loans.
