Nom wars? So. This is interesting. First, we hear about Taste of Berkeley, get sufficiently excited for the plethora of worldy flavors that will literally be laid at our feet this Tuesday at 11 a.m. and then kind of forget about it, assuming we’d be reminded by the presumable delicious aromas wafting from Lower Sproul Plaza at that time.

But then, today we’re on Facebook, wasting time and stuff and we realize we’re  invited to this thing called the International Food Festival, which is also on Tuesday and starts at 11 a.m.

For a second, we assume that it’s the same thing as the aforementioned ASUC-sponsored Taste of Berkeley, but then we do a double take. “The Savio Steps @ Upper Sproul Plaza,” the event page says, held by “The International Students Association at Berkeley,” ending at 1:30 p.m. as opposed to Taste of Berkeley’s 2 p.m.

“Well, sheeeeit,” we say to ourselves, “that’s not the same thing at all!”  Basically, the way we’re seeing things playing out on March 16, is all of Sproul Plaza (upper and lower) turned into a giant food orgy. Or, maybe if we’re lucky, two competitive food orgies driving each others’ prices down according to the principles of capitalism. Because, sadly, neither event is free.

But hey, all we’ve got to say is if it’s better than what turned out to be the pretty disappointing Berkeley International Food and Music Festival, then we’re down.
