And no, we don’t mean through the copious consumption of alcohol or other substances in which you might be partaking this weekend. You’ve (hopefully) already run across a copy of the Daily Cal Fall Orientation issue, but perhaps you haven’t yet encountered the publication billing itself as its edgier, hipper equivalent, the Cal Disorientation guide.
The Disorientation guide is conspicuously lacking any mention of its authors or organizers, although we do have reason to suspect that a certain bear-like character is involved. Nevertheless,it does contain some movie, class and restaurant recommendations that could be helpful for confused, sensorily-overloaded new students or returning students looking to branch out.
In addition, there is a contribution from UCMeP and plenty of news and opinion related to the BP oil spill, labor relations at Cal and so forth. The pamphlet bills itself as “the guide you will never get from CalSO, your dorm, or the Daily Cal” but the Clog still manages to get onto the blogs/news list in the Navigating Media at Cal article, which we take to mean we haven’t been completely brainwashed by The Man. High five!
The guide is available online at this website or in print.
