New ‘Crop Swap’ Offers a Chance to Trade Your Goods (Food Goods, That Is)

GardenLeave it to Berkeley to bring back the barter system. Transition Berkeley, an organization that works with local communities to encourage sustainability and emphasize the importance of locally grown food rather than fossil fuels, is hosting what they call a “Crop Swap” [1].

Every Monday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., participants will have the opportunity to trade their goods with others. You don’t have to stick to food, either; flowers and herbs are also acceptable.

The Swap will be held across from North Berkeley BART on the Ohlone Greenway [2] at Sacramento and Delaware and will also be a chance to socialize with other local gardeners. Let’s just keep it legal here, folks.
