2637510864_c17f217652Everyone grooves to a different beat — catchy pop on the radio, your favorite local indie band, the awesome album you picked up from that random rapper on the corner by Smart Alec’s ( … or not).

So what about “music for riots?” A “Dr. Seuss world of sound sculptures?” A violinist who “who plies the barbed-wire fences of Australia‚Äôs outback?”

From Sept. 3 through Sept. 18, BAM/PFA will host a series [1] entitled “Sounding Off: Portraits of Unusual Music.” Featuring five films that showcase musical experimentation from around the world, the program highlights an overarching challenge to the art of sound production as we know it.

The schedule, as follows:

- “The Reach of Resonance” – Saturday, Sept. 3
6:30 p.m.

- “Trimpin: The Sound of Invention” – Thursday, Sept. 8
7:oo p.m.

- “Ne change rien” – Saturday, Sept. 10
6:30 p.m.

- “We Don’t Care About Music Anyway” – Friday, Sept. 16
7:00 p.m.

- “Intangible Asset Number 82″ – Sunday, Sept. 18
6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $5.50 for UCB students and BAM/PFA members, $6.50 for non-UCB students and $9.50 for pretty much everyone else.
