Welcome back!
Ready for a new year of protests, exams, parties, adventures, what have you? Of course not, you’ll just be studying all day and night, right? Right.
2011 might have been a hectic year for you (especially you, freshmen), but 2012 gives us the excuse to turn a new leaf and begin the spring semester with a fresh mind.
Speaking of freshmen, a huge influx of new applicants hopes to come to Cal. This statistic predictably goes higher year by year, but applications for the 2012-2013 freshman class jumped up 16.5 percent. What could have caused the increase?
One thing that is starting 2012 right, however, is the new shuttle-bus contract Bear Transit signed. Yeah, the “free” public transportation system around Berkeley is paid in part by your own tuition, but it’s a good system nonetheless. A contract that grants us better, safer buses and veteran drivers? Sounds like a good deal to us.
Finally, here’s a present for making it to 2012! You might have noticed the rumors of free Microsoft Office software before we went on break; those rumors are true! Microsoft Office software is now available to download for FREE as long as you’re a Cal Bear. Did I mention that it’s FREE?
Here’s to a great spring semester!
