Looking around the Berkeley campus we find them everywhere. Hanging out in a coffee shop with their MacBooks, on Memorial Glade with a pair of aviators and shoes off, on the steps of Wheeler hall reading or walking in exactly 10 minutes after the hour to their Literature / Art History / Film classes. Hipsters. Well, the population may be increasing due to hipster clothing being discounted to a fraction of the price. We may see Berkeley inching our way closer to the top of the “Most Hipster Campus” list. Feeling edgy? Glide over to Bancroft and Telegraph for up to 70 percent off at American Apparel.
Don’t run to fast, or you may mess up your tired-eyed, book bag over shoulder swagger, but farther down Bancroft Urban Outfitters is offering 30 percent off all redlines. A rainbow of v-neck T-shirts awaits the male hipster at Urban priced at only $9.99 (plus an extra 30 percent off if you hit them up soon)!
Both stores offer a wide-range of sales selections that are anything but “mainstream.” If you are a sad, hipster Berkeley student with minimal funds due to student loans, take a deep sigh of relief, you can still stay indie. Budget shopping awaits!
Need a little shopping music? On the way to school, playing “Campus” on our iPods, suddenly we see how much of an impact the Hipster community has on our campus, and on many college campuses for that matter. Lets not hate, but embrace them as one of us, one of the “we” and shop along side them. ”Walking cross the campus, studying romances,” it is time to let our inner hipster show, because, lets face it, Bros, you are outnumbered.
