The Asian American Association held a nice little election forum tonight. The trouble is, as our friend at “Beetle Beat points out”:http://beetlebeat.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html#6013227504102992845, that only Student Action and CalSERVE candidates were invited.

That’s right, no independents, no Apple Engineers, no Mario Party candidates (wait, no Mario Party this year). Anyway, if there were a Mario Party candidate for president, we’re pretty sure he’d be spitting fireballs right about now.

According to Beetle, Travis Garcia and Eric Marshall, two third-party (or in the case of Garcia no-party) candidates for president are really fuming over this.

We see why Garcia’s freaking out over this. As an independent, he pretty much has no political machines to help him in his election. He’s also been trying to level the “financial playing field among candidates”:http://clog.dailycal.org/303/travis-garcia-all-disco-no-party.

Garcia’s so ticked off that he’s threatening to sue the AAA.

Why? Because it’s an “ASUC sponsored” event. And supposedly all ASUC sponsored events need to have all sides represented. Okay, we believe you Garcia.

But how likely is it for the AAA to change its mind? Almost as likely for Stanfurd to reclaim the Axe next year.

Plus, it’s not like any of those AAA kids were going to vote for Garcia or Marshall anyway.

Isn’t APPLE-Engineering part of the Student Action triumvirate of parties (along with UNITE-Greek)? Your reporting is really shoddy!
