The idea of “recognition where recognition is due” is always uplifting, isn’t it? Surely Rhyen Coombs, a student at the prestigious UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, felt her spirits rise upon earning the 2009 Dorothea Lange Fellowship yesterday. Her acclaimed project was a photographic exploration of the things that people leave behind when their homes have been foreclosed. And boy, have there been a lot of those lately.
