When we saw a gigantic uber-girly pink van on Sproul we swore that life-sized Barbie dolls were going to emerge from its flower-scented interior and, actually, we weren’t that far off. In fact, the things that did emerge were tall, blonde and thus, not surprisingly, they came bearing shoes and lots of pink stuff–although, we were pretty sure that they could bend their arms at the elbows.

As we stood in a ridiculously long line for a pair of free Roxy sandals (and then another, even longer line in order to attach the straps to the sandals withe some kind of fancy sandal-strapping machine) we realized we didn’t even know what this van was all about. The free shoes, Emergen-C samples, and various merchandise in every shade of pink known to man didn’t exactly scream breast cancer awareness to us, but then again, neither did the “I [Heart] Boobies” shirts.
