Travis Garcia, an independent ASUC presidential candidate, is all over the place. First he got our attention with that big Trojan condom image on his flyers around town. (Oh, that sly dog!) Now he’s popping up in the Daily Cal for the second time this week.
Hey, an independent’s gotta do what an independent’s gotta do.
In today’s paper, Garcia’s making news over his demands to open up party slate selection and to decrease funding for election campaigns. However, Garcia is not a senator and so he must have an ASUC senator to sponsor his proposal before it can reach the floor.
Too bad. With that pretty face, he sure enamored a few ladies in the Daily Cal office. (It didn’t matter that he’s the president of that gay fraternity–love knows no bounds, folks.)
Garcia would like to see
all parties … to publicly announce and hold interviews open to any eligible candidate considering running with such party at least four weeks prior to the elections.
We think he’s just upset he couldn’t get big party backing. That’s okay, baby, you’re a party all of your own.
He also wants to lower the executive candidate’s budget from $1,000 to $500 and the senate candidate’s budget from $200 to $150.
Are you serious? The executive candidates already get 1K to play with? Somebody should be throwing a party, in the name of parties! P.S. Invite us. At least one of us will take clothes off if requested.
Earlier this week the Daily Cal mentioned Travis Garcia in a discussion of third-party candidates. The article claims that Student Action controversy from the last election has “galvanized” third-parties and independents, including Garcia guapo himself.
“People are tired of closed-door, political-machine politics,” he said. Sex-machine politics not included.
