Amer AparLooking around the Berkeley campus we find them everywhere.  Hanging out in a coffee shop with their MacBooks, on Memorial Glade with a pair of aviators and shoes off, on the steps of Wheeler hall reading or walking in exactly 10 minutes after the hour to their Literature / Art History / Film classes.  Hipsters.  Well, the population may be increasing due to hipster clothing being discounted to a fraction of the price.  We may see Berkeley inching our way closer to the top of the “Most Hipster Campus”  list. Feeling edgy? read more »

Last year's fair.Tie dye!

So make your time … for the 26th annual Telegraph Avenue Holiday Street Fair. Yes, it is upon us and–as evidenced by the fact that the fair was still bumping earlier today–people will be out there selling crafty things and other whatnot, rain or shine.

Vendors will be lining the famed thoroughfare from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. again tomorrow, and on Dec. 19, 20, 23 and 24. Now would be the time to load up on unique gifts, sure to impress upon your grandparents just how “Berkeley” you’ve become since you left for college. Didgeridoos and henna for everyone!

Next time you feel up your fruit at Berkeley Bowl, think twice before going to second base with your cherry tomato.

Raphael Breines was nabbed in the Berkeley Bowl parking lot — a.k.a. “Berkeley Brawl” for its infamous tales of Bowl-shopper brutes and automobile savagery — by premise security. He was apparently caught taste-testing in the apricot section on Berkeley Bowl security cameras. The man couldn’t doggone choose between two breeds of apricots, and now must face the consequences: banned from the Bowl for life. read more »
