The Daily Cal tells us that the waitlist deletions problem with Tele-BEARS we mentioned yesterday affected about 7,000 students. Oops.
Acting registrar Walter Wong Information Service and Technology mainframe manager George Suennen summed it well:
bq. “There have been little glitches here and there, but this one’s pretty big,” he said.
The Tele-BEARS computer is about 30 years old. The deletions occurred while trying to adjust waitlists for summer classes. It appears they inadvertently adjust fall waitlists as well.
