Okay, so we thought that the Cal football team was going to just romp all over Washington on Saturday. But that didn’t happen.

After an ugly first half which ended in the Huskies going up 10-0 at halftime, “the Bears needed overtime to beat U-Dub 31-24 on Saturday.”:http://www.dailycal.org/sharticle.php?id=21924

It may have been an exciting second-half, with an exciting finish that ended with “Marshawn Lynch ghost-ridin’ the whip”:http://youtube.com/watch?v=UqMsT_2teus, but Cal definitely looked like a team that needed a bye next weekend.

Longshore was less than impressive even though he had 291 passing yards. And though the Bears intercepted five passes on the day, Huskies backup quarterback Carl Bonnell looked decent in only his third start at the collegiate level.

Of course, Lynch was impressive with another 150-yard, two touchdown performance that carried Cal to victory. “Did we mention he was trippin’ his whip?”:http://youtube.com/watch?v=iChgCGa0ikg

But the win does tell us this: the Bears can still steal a victory with their backs up against the wall, and that’s something that may be beneficial to them when they go down to the Coliseum in a couple of weeks.

And then maybe “Marshawn can ghost-ride”:http://youtube.com/watch?v=Eyh67zTNFqg over Traveler.
