This April 21, the Berkeley City Council will consider passing an ordinance banning the city’s departments from purchasing clothes from companies with inadequate workers’ rights policies. A similar proposal came up last year but didn’t go through due to the costs and paperwork involved.

We’d suggest that the city buy only from American Apparel, but we might feel like sellouts in that case. For more on the ordinance, you can read Igor Tregub’s op-ed in the Daily Cal.
