If you’re reading this, you’re probably already enrolled at UCB (or Berserkley, if you prefer). And what with finals approaching and astronomical fees looming, you might be a little bummed about it.

Well, as it turns out, there is a silver lining to every cloud. Because since you’re here, that means you don’t have to apply for college again, and you got to miss a huge mess.

This Monday, there was a computer glitch with the UC applications and some students were “blocked” from sending in their applications on time. Some probably thought they’d missed the deadline completely.

So thank your lucky stars, college compadres. You may be up to your ears in term papers and fee increases, but at least you’re not a high school senior with a finished but unsent UC application, staring forlornly at the computer screen as your tears splash onto the keyboard.

And take heart in this happy ending: because of the glitch, students were given an extra day and a half to turn in their applications. We will be seeing lots of them next year.
